A corrections officer was struck in the head by a prisoner, knocked to the ground, and subjected to further blows to the face. Two other prisoners intervened, pushing the assailant away to stop the attack. The officer managed to call for assistance and deployed a chemical agent against the prisoner. He was treated for facial swelling and returned to work the following day. A referral to the Michigan State Police was completed.
