11/17/23 Update on retention/recruitment bonuses
The Office of the State Employer finally met with us today and confirmed that the retention/recruitment bonuses are still pending but cannot be paid out until the Civil Service Commission approves it. The target date of Dec. 1, 2023, was not able to be met due to the Civil Service Commission meeting not being scheduled until Dec. 13, 2023. Once the approval is granted the bonuses can be paid out, which obviously wouldn’t occur until after the first of the year. As soon as the Office of the State Employer can confirm the pay dates, an update will be sent out. Just as a reminder, the bonuses are as follows:
$1,000 to corrections officers with more than 3 years of total service as a corrections officer.
$1,500 to corrections officers hired prior to Jan. 9, 2023, that have less than 3 years of total service as a corrections officer.
$2,000 to corrections officers hired between Jan. 9, 2023, and Sep. 30, 2023.
A three-phase bonus for corrections officers newly hired after Oct. 1, 2023, that pays $1,000 upon hire, $1,000 if they complete the OJT period, and $1,000 if they complete one year of service.
