12/4/2024 – Corrections Officer injured during prisoner assault at Gus Harrison Correctional Facility (ARF)
At approximately 1251 hours, C/O A released prisoner A from his cell for medication lines.
Prisoner A approached C/O A from behind and began delivering multiple closed fist punches to his head and face area. Prisoner B, responded to the area and appears to assist C/O A by pushing A away. Staff responded and restrained prisoner A. Prisoner A was escorted to Temp. Seg. pending possible RTP discharge and alternate placement pending hearing.
C/O A was visibly shaken and bleeding from the face area. C/O A was transported to the local urgent care to be treated for a bruised right wrist and possible broken nose. No other staff were injured. The Wellness Unit was notified of the staff assault.
Prisoner B indicated prisoner A was paid by prisoners to assault C/O A. This information is still being looked at.
CFA Classification notified for possible assistance for transfers.
