12/31/2024 – Multiple Corrections Officers injured and exposed to blood during prisoner assault at Chippewa Correctional Facility (URF)

Prisoner A (level 2) was heading to MedLines flashing gang signs into the TV/Cards rooms. Officer A told him to keep moving on. Prisoner advanced towards A and B intervened fast enough to stop him. Prisoner A put officer B in a choke hold and began throwing closed fist blows to the upper body area of B. A responded immediately getting struck on as well. Prisoner was resisting, A was able to administer gas. Prisoner taken to the ground by A, B and C. Prisoner resisted. More staff arrived and gained control of prisoner. Escort Chair was brought in and prisoner was transported to Health Care received 3 stitches and placed in Quarry 27.

A, B and C all had blood exposure.

B has a few marks on his face and I am sure bruising on his back area of where he was punched.
