12/3/2024 – Multiple Corrections Officers injured during prisoner assault at Gus Harrison Correctional Facility (ARF)  

At 0802 hours, prisoner A, refused to leave base in RTP Housing Unit 5. Corrections Officer A and several other staff responded to the scene with ECD displayed. Prisoner A refused to comply with staff orders to leave base and charged at C/O A aggressively. C/O A discharged the ECD twice not making a positive connection. C/O B discharged his ECD from behind prisoner A still not making a positive connection. Prisoner A advanced towards C/O A and delivered chopping strike to the C/O A’s neck area. C/O C responded to the scene restraining prisoner A waist area and guided him to the floor with other staff.

Prisoner A was restrained and escort to the shower holding area where he was treated by health care. Three ECD prongs were removed, and no other injuries noted. Prisoner A was placed on confinement ending hearing and issued misconducts for DDO and Staff assault. According to Mental Health, prisoner Laverette recently received a medication adjustment and was medication compliant. Prisoner A will be placed in SSRTP as a result of his actions.

C/O C was sent to Urgent Care and was treated for a bruise on his left hand. C/O C was cleared to return to work with not restrictions on December 6, 2024.

C/O A was sent to Urgent Care and was treated for dizziness. C/O A was cleared to return to work the same day with no restrictions.

C/O A reported to work on December 4 and complained of dizziness. C/O A was sent home and instructed to follow up with a medical provider.

MSP referral was completed.
