12/12/2024 – Corrections Officer assaulted with scissors by a prisoner at Muskegon Correctional Facility (MCF)
At 1854 hours, Prisoner A (2-148-A) exited the Unit 2-day room and assaulted CO A with a hobbycraft scissors in the face area. Prisoner A did not have a hobby craft card with scissors listed.
CO A began fighting off Prisoner A, her partner CO B activated his PPD and immediately began assisting CO A in fighting off Prisoner A.
At 1855 hours, CO A discharged her ECD towards Prisoner A, the ECD was ineffective in stopping the attack. Multiple staff responded, placed prisoner A on the ground and manually secured him in a prone position. Sgt. C and CO D placed Prisoner A in handcuffs. CO D called for the restraint chair. Prisoner Placed in ERC at 1858 hours and moved to the segregation shower.
Unit 2 was placed on lockdown. 2nd half LTA activities cancelled.
Facility was initially locked down for all movement. Med Lines temporarily stopped during the incident.
CO A initially evaluated by Health Care as she received a scratch in the neck area. Lt. E took CO A to Mercy ED for evaluation, and she was later released.
Prisoner transferred to ICF.
