10/4/2024 – Warning shot fired at Bellamy Creek Correctional Facility (IBC).
There were no staff injuries.
The Warden met with the Block Reps. Classification worked with the facility to transfer those prisoners to alternate locations.
The Officer who fired the warning shot was relieved from assignment; and was referred to the Wellness Unit.
0826 – During Unit 4 big yard a four-man fight broke out with a weapon in front of B-tower. This altercation was between the Bloods and the Vice lords. The target of the stabbing is prisoner A who is a STG1 Vicelord. Prisoner A and Prisoner B, a suspected NOI Muslim, were walking on the track when they were approached by Prisoner C and D, both suspected Bloods. These prisoners began to attack A and B. Officer A yelled out, “Stop fighting,” because they were under his tower. The prisoners did not comply. Officer A saw the weapon that was involved. Officer A fired a warning shot into the warning shot pit and the prisoners stopped fighting immediately. Responding staff placed the prisoners in wrist restraints and escorted them off the yard. The unit 4 big yard was closed.
Officer A was relieved from his assignment immediately and was told to report with his weapon for lock-out to the arsenal. SGT B secured the weapon, locking it out and locking out the case to the weapon as well. The wellness unit was notified to contact Officer A. Officer A spoke with peer-to-peer support specialist CPC C. Unit 4 is on lockdown and a phase plan is being implemented.
No staff or prisoner injuries were reported in this incident. No exposures were reported in this incident. No PCA or ECDs were utilized in this incident.
