10/28/2024 – Disruptive prisoner injures Corrections Officer by throwing a padlock at Chippewa Correctional Facility (URF)
At 1910 on the A-Wing of Round Unit prisoners A R-126/S-318 threw his JP-6 Tablet at prisoner B R-124/S-117 and struck him. The Two prisoners started repeatedly punching each other in the head and upper body. Officer A sprayed chemical agents on the two prisoners and Officer B deployed one cartridge from his ECD at prisoner A and the other at B. The two prisoners continued to hit each other and when additional staff were on scene they were separated.
Prisoner B was placed in had cuffs and escorted to Steamboat Unit by Officers C and D without further incident. B received a shower to wash off the chemical agents. B was treated for a small laceration over his right eye by RN E with ster-strips. B received a misconduct for fighting.
Prisoner A resisted staff trying to apply handcuffs by grabbing and pulling the shoulder of Officer B towards him. A refused to give up his hands to be restrained and Capt. F delivered a burst of chemical agents to the face of A allowing Officer B to apply the handcuffs. A continued to resist while being escorted to Steamboat Unit. A was placed in the Transport chair where he was removed from it and placed in the Center Intake Module. A refused to allow the handcuffs to be removed and was threatening to kill staff. Eventually A allowed the hand cuffs to be removed but he would not comply with being strip searched.
At 1932 hrs. Prisoner A threw a combination lock through the Intake module door and struck Volunteer Officer G in the back of his right knee. Officer G was taken to MMC by Sgt. H.
Officer G returned from MMC with restrictions to be off for 2 days. Officer G stated, “he is sore, but nothing is broke or bleeding”.
