June 2024 Report – Kinross Correctional Facility
During June 2024, Kinross Correctional Facility officers faced:
- 932 overtime shifts;
- 502 mandates;
- 61 closed positions;
- 57 32-hour rule violations.
MCO Members remain steadfast in their professionalism and commitment to public safety as they continue to be punished by the staffing crisis. Baraga Correctional Facility, which is supposed to employ 156 corrections officers, currently has 36 vacancies with a vacancy rate of 23.3%.
Notable incidents from June 2024 include:
- 6/1/2024 – Prisoner D assaulted Prisoner A with 7″ weapon in unit bathroom
- 6/3/2024 – 7 inch weapon found in Prisoner area of control
- 6/3/2024 – Weapon found during shakedown of Prisoner on yard
- 6/4/2024 – Prisoner A possessed supspected K2 disguised as legal mail
- 6/4/2024 – 5 inch weapon found during shakedown of cube
- 6/7/2024 – Suspected K2 found concealed in Prisoners pocket
- 6/7/2024 – 2 prisoners in altercation with weapon (not recovered)
- 6/9/2024 – Suspected K2 found in Prisoner area of control
- 6/12/2024 – 2 6 inch weapons found in unit cube
- 6/13/2024 – Suboxone found in prisoner area of control
- 6/15/2024 – 4.5 inch weapon found in prisoner area of control
- 6/18/2024 – Fight between two prisoners, ecd deployed
- 6/22/2024 – Prisoner caught smoking suspected K2 in cube
- 6/24/2024 – Fight between two prisoners, 1 possessing lock in a sock(weapon recovered)
- 6/25/2024 – Suboxone found in prisoners incoming property
- 6/26/2024 – 8 inch weapon found in unit cube
- 6/26/2024 – Assault on prisoner in unit bathroom
- 6/26/2024 – prisoner had incendiary and suspected K2 in pants discovered during a shakedown. Prisoner was under the influence at this time
- 6/28/2024 – 6 inch weapon found on prisoner during shakedown
- 6/29/2024 – assault on prisoner no information provided
