6/28/24 – Staff Assault – Macomb Correctional Facility

I was assaulted on June 28, 2024. I am currently waiting to see the surgeon because my right bicep is completely ruptured and requires surgery. I was responding to a call in housing unit 1 at the Macomb correctional facility because of a drug induced inmate. While trying to handcuff him with other officers, he pulled my right arm rupturing my bicep. In July 2021 the same thing happened to my left arm rupturing my left bicep and requiring me to have surgery. This will be my second surgery in under 3 years and I’ve only been with the department for six years. My left arm is operating at 75%,  and I’m told the same will happen to my right arm. I’m still waiting for the state to approve my supplemental income.
